This is the quilt that is the result of my search for toile for the backing of Andrea's quilt. I probably should have taken a close-up photo of the toile so you can get a better look at the design, but the tree that is appliqued in the upper right corner is taken from one of the toile elements.
It is one of those pieces where I almost felt driven to complete it. And I've been brought back 'round to my earth-tone roots. It was probably the result of being stressed about finishing several other projects so my mind rebelled and inspired me to create something else. I'm quite pleased with it now that the top is complete.
Cranes
I was also thinking of re-using the design layout for another quilt in a different color scheme if I can find a suitable border print for inspiration.I have a beautiful oriental crane fabric in blues and reds and golds that might work but the treatment would have to be different as I only bought a yard of it (because I couldn't resist it) and that won't be enough for borders. That quilt might work with a corner element a framed section of the print, a silhouette of the crane across the coins and a solid border. I don't have the fabrics collected for the coins yet, of course, and that will have to wait a bit. I've already invested a hefty sum in quilting supplies and services this month.
